APPEARANCE: The following is a description of Kiri's usual appearance. Being a spirit, he can shroud himself in any appearance that he desires, but this one is the one he has been using since his coming to the material plane of existence and the one he considers his true form.

Body: Kiri's height is average for a man, a respectable 5'8", not overly tall but not small enough to be considered a handicap. His muscles are well toned because of his constant training as a swordsman but not excessively bulky. He has a slim waist but nicely defined abs, and arms that look strong without the muscles bulging out too much. His legs are cut the same way, with healthy-looking thighs and strong calves.

Face: His face is somewhat delicate, with a bold nose and a pretty mouth. It normally lacks any expression, which gives him a cold or uncaring look. He very rarely smiles, but he smirks from time to time.

Eyes: His eyes are red, ranging from bright red to dark crimson depending on his mood. The lighter his eyes are, the better his mood is. When he's in an especially dark mood, they can look almost black.

Hair: Kiri's hair is the one feature that he changes freely according to his whims. It can range from pale blond to a dark mahogany color, but is always short in the back and longer in the front. He styles it differently depending on his mood.

Other features: He almost always wears make-up around his eyes, in shades of red and black. He also often sports war paint on his face in the same colors on the right side of his face, something subtle but definitely noticeable.

Clothing: Kiri favors black and red clothing, usually made of leather and with many straps and metal studs involved. His pants are loose to allow freedom of movement, and his tops are always sleeveless. Sometimes he wears armbands, and he always has something covering his wrists. His left eye is always covered with a piece of leather, though he won't explain the reason for that to anyone who asks. Rumors have it that he sustained an injury in battle and lost his eye, but there is no confirmation whether these rumors are true or not. He always carries his weapons with him; two longswords hanging from his belt, and a large bastard sword strapped on his back.






PERSONALITY: At first glance, Kiri looks like a cold, uncaring man, but he's much more complex than that. He simply won't let unnecessary emotions get in the way of his goals. And he won't let anyone get in the way, either. He's a determined man, extremely cunning, and he tends to have a one-track mind. He loves to be challenged, and he will do everything to win.

The positive side to this is that when Kiri sets out for something, the only way to discourage him is to put him to death. Which, of course, isn't an easy thing to do. He's loyal to an extreme, even though the only person he's ever sworn loyalty to so far is himself. But without a doubt, if he were to swear loyalty to someone else, it would be just the same.

Kiri has no sense of humor whatsoever. The most harmless joke might be interpreted in the wrong way and end up with a fight. He has a strong sense of honor that can easily get bruised, and the consequences are usually painful, if not deadly. If there is a sweet side to him, it has yet to be found.

LIKES: Fire (duh!), fighting, strong people (both in body and will), challenges, being the best swordsman in the known world.

DISLIKES: Water, boredom, self-pity, weakness.

STRENGTH: Physical strength and speed, his cunning mind.

WEAKNESS: Because he's a fire spirit, a prolonged contact with water will gradually weaken him physically and sap his powers. In example, he can take a 15 minutes shower or bath without too damage being done, but standing in the pouring rain for hours would weaken him to the point of collapsing and losing consciousness.

HISTORY: Kiri was born into existence in the elemental plane of Fire, in a city filled with others of his kind. It was an easy life. Way too easy for his restless soul. But he endured it nonetheless, because it was the only life that he knew, and he thought that it was the only life that he could get. He had no family, because there was no such thing as families in that place. He had been spawned from the ever raging fires of the elemental plane, as all Ifrits were. And he lived on, like all the others, with no purpose but to exist, for five thousand years.

But unlike his brethren, Kiri was bored with this existence. He felt like there must be something out there that was worth striving for, other than just going by without a purpose. He did some research, and learned about the Material World. And he knew at once that this world could become his playground. So he left the elemental plane of Fire and ventured into the Material World.

He took a human shape, in order to blend in. For years, he wandered the world, at first putting his powers in service of men who used him to gain riches and fame. It was amusing for a while, then he got tired of it. Then he decided to become a swordsman. He trained with the best ones out there. And he became better than all of them. It was decided. He would become the best swordsman in the world.

He wandered, and challenged the warriors he met to beat him, and he won every duel. He became a legend, known as the Crimson Blade. But even this got boring after a while. He needed something else. He needed something more.

And then, during his wanderings, he came upon the Court. What would it be like, to serve someone, he wondered? Not as a servant like he had been in the past, but as a retainer, fighting for the sake of someone other than himself. Now, it would cure him of his boredom for a while, wouldn't it?

Kiri was sweating profusely, blood pouring from the wound to the side of his head as he glared at his opponent. The man was good, he had to admit. And he was stubborn enough not to give up.

- "You're combative, old man," he breathed out. "You've won my respect. I won't think badly of you if you pull back now."
- "What bullshit are you talking now??" the man shouted. "I'm not nearly done with you!!"

Kiri easily blocked the man's attack with his sword as he lunged at him, and he pushed him back roughly.

- "This is your last chance, old man," Kiri commented in a level voice. "If you want to save your life, do it now. If you attack me again, I'll kill you."

The man growled in anger and lunged at him again with his sword raised but Kiri easily stepped aside and whirled around, plunging his blade through his opponent's back. He stared with emotionless eyes as the other man's blood spilled onto the ground.

- "I warned you," he said. "You're defeated. But I praise your strong willpower. You've truly been a worthy opponent."

He pulled his sword free and watched as the man's body collapsed onto the ground, the blood pooling around him. He wiped his blade on the dying man's cloak and sheathed it again, walking forward without looking back.

POWER: Being an Ifrit, Kiri has complete control over the Fire element. This ranges from being able to light a candle to burning down a whole town to ashes in an eyeblink. However, he is reluctant to use his powers. He prefers facing his opponents with the steel of his blades. So unless he finds himself in a life or death situation, he won't call upon his abilities at all.
